The HR Diagram is used to measure how far away a star cluster is from Earth.

A star on this diagram could be, for example, the white dwarfs.
-The White Dwarf star is a medium sized star.
-The White Dwarf star has a temperature of about 100,000 K (around 180,000 F) when its at the stage of JUST becoming a white dwarf. Gradually, it cools down after a billion of years. The cooling down part of the star could get cooler than the sun which is about 6,000K.
-The brightness of the White Dwarf star has the brightness of originally its host star, but will eventually fade away.
